Now that Tokyo Game show is behind us, we have gathered even more information and probably the last large pieces of news we will get about either of the new consoles before launch time. This one comes as a bit of a surprise as Sony announced there will be iOS and Android companion apps for the Playstation 4. The apps will let you control the PS4 as well as access your Playstation Network account. You can view trophies, chat with friends, and even link to dedicated gaming mini-sites. The app is said to be released sometime in November, but most likely not on initial launch day.
Things couldn’t be more exciting in the Sony camp, right? Wrong, Sony debunked the rumor that you could not record gameplay to an external device via HDMI. This has been a rumor for quite some time due to the HDCP that was once linked with the PS3 via HDMI. You now have the opportunity to not only record your gameplay via HDMI, but you also have the option to use the share button and stream to various sites as well.
Once again, Sony has come up big at another major event, making for big headlines. After all of this information, where does Microsoft and the Xbox One sit in the nex-gen war? Only time will tell.
