Video Game Adaptions

Since the success of the LEGO movie, there seems to be a fever of wanting to make video games into movies. Warcraft is already in production. Yep, every PC gamer’s dream: movie based on the World of Warcraft video game. Eh, if you have the money, go ahead.

It has been announced that there will be a Minecraft movie. Yes, the adaption from the Minecraft video game. Guess who is producing?! If you guessed Warner Bros., you are correct. Warner Bros. is becoming the place to go for every movie adaption of a video game.

After searching the internet for video games turning into movies (thanks google), I was able to create my own list of video games that could become movies. So here are a few video games that gamers wouldn’t mind seeing on the big screen:

  1. The Last of Us: What?! There have been a bunch of zombie/ infected movies. Why not make a good one this time. After dominating at the VGX, I think the Last of Us can survive and dominate on the big screen as well. The movie would have the same emotional depth that the game had.
  2. Tomb Raider: If they can revamp the video game franchise, they can revamp the movies as well. The voice actress from the video game can be Lara Croft on the big screen. FYI: If you didn’t know, the voice actress is currently on Grey’s Anatomy. I just threw a little extra trivia your way, you’re welcome.
  3. Uncharted: If this became a movie, it would be a dream come true for me and I’m sure for other Uncharted fans as well. The video game has enough material to provide for the movie: the wit, humor, there is even romance for the producers to work with. Of course, we are still waiting for Uncharted 4 to be released or announced officially. It’s an uphill battle, people.
  4. The Division: They already made multiple Tom Clancy works into movies. The Division would be perfect; it has the outbreak/ virus theme that everything is based on nowadays. Funny part is, the outbreak happened on Black Friday! So, people may be frightened to participate in the Black Friday sales, but we get a movie in turn. Choices…

Of course, there are some video games that should never be made into movies. Meaning that what gamers like, other people won’t like. It would make going to the movies more interesting at least. What video games do you think should be made into a movie?
